Limited sneaker releases sell through quickly, so retail and resale teams need to know the moment a release page, a price or a stock level changes. Brands do the same when they track their own launches across stockists. A responsive, location-accurate connection keeps those monitors timely. This guide covers monitoring only: automated checkout, several draw entries per person and queue manipulation break these retailers' rules, and a proxy is a connection tool, not a way around them.
Which proxy type for each retailer
- Nike / SNKRS: static residential IPs from Residential Premium in the US region. Aim for latency under 50ms to Nike's edge.
- Footsites (Foot Locker, Champs Sports and their sister stores): static residential. Their bot-management layer screens out most datacenter traffic.
- Shopify stores: static residential for quick page checks, rotating residential for restock monitors.
- Adidas Confirmed: static residential in the US and EU. Mobile IPs can help when you monitor through the app.
- Supreme: high-quality static IPs only, because release-day traffic makes the site hard on low-quality addresses.
We don't sell a separate ISP plan: static residential (ISP) IPs come with Residential Premium, and our ISP proxies page explains how that works.
How many IPs per monitor
As a rule of thumb, 1-3 IPs per monitored store is standard. Some monitoring tools expect a 1:1 setup, with one IP locked to one task. Heavier setups use 5-10 IPs for a store that is checked at short intervals on release day.
Why datacenter rarely fits
Most large sneaker retailers filter datacenter traffic at the edge, so datacenter IPs tend to waste budget here. Static residential is the practical starting point.
Where rotating residential earns its place
Rotating residential IPs suit monitors, the tools that watch for restocks and price changes around the clock, because every check stands alone. Keep static IPs for checks where response time matters.
Test the setup before release day
- Run every IP through our proxy checker and drop the dead ones.
- Time a few hundred requests against the target site and keep the IPs that respond quickest.
- Confirm each IP's country with our IP lookup tool: a US release needs US IPs.
Beyond the proxies
- Server location: a VPS within 50ms of the retailer's edge keeps monitors responsive, for example NYC for SNKRS US.
- Check intervals: keep them reasonable and within the site's rate limits.
- Buying stock: if your team also buys for resale, do it by hand through the retailer's normal checkout, one account per real person, with accurate billing and shipping details. Retailers can cancel orders that break their rules.
Review each release with the team
Keep the logs whatever the outcome. Knowing whether a monitor missed a restock because of latency, blocks or a long check interval tells you what to change next time, and a short review with the team makes the next launch smoother.
Our setup for retail monitoring
For static IPs, choose Residential Premium, billed per GB with country targeting; each IP stays the same for the life of the order. For round-the-clock restock monitors, our rotating residential proxies are the usual fit. Retailer-specific notes are on our page of proxies for sneaker sites.
