Hungary: price caps, Árukereső and the language rule for ads

Árukereső.hu, Hungary's own comparison site, sits alongside regional players such as eMAG and Alza, and the government has intervened directly in grocery pricing in recent years. For pricing and marketing teams that means local checks rather than borrowed EU benchmarks: Hungarian-language ads, forint prices that include VAT, and promotions read in the context of local regulation.

Retail and comparison channels

Árukereső.hu, part of the Heureka Group, compares offers across Hungarian shops, while eMAG.hu, Alza.hu and MediaMarkt sell electronics and household goods online. Grocery chains such as Spar, Tesco and Auchan and the drugstores dm and Rossmann matter for consumer brands, especially under the price rules described next.

Regulated prices on everyday goods

Hungary has applied government caps on grocery prices and, later, on retail margins for selected products. When a food or drugstore price moves, check whether regulation explains it before reading it as a competitor's decision, and note the rule in force for each reporting period.

Hungarian-language ads

Hungarian law requires commercial advertising published in Hungary to carry Hungarian text, with any foreign-language wording as an addition. Ad checks from Budapest, Debrecen or Szeged should therefore confirm that the Hungarian version actually runs, with forint prices and a Hungarian landing page.

Who enforces what

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) handles misleading commercial practices, including influencer and discount claims, and NAIH supervises data protection. Both publish their decisions, a useful guide to where they draw lines; keep your own monitoring on public pages and free of personal data.

Questions buyers ask about Hungary proxies

As a map of the local market. Árukereső.hu lists offers from a wide range of Hungarian shops, so it shows which retailers carry your products and at what forint price, including shops too small to watch one by one. Check it from Hungarian IPs and keep dated snapshots, because Hungary's price rules have changed several times.
Delivery and payment choices next to price: home delivery versus parcel lockers from networks such as Foxpost, cash on delivery (utánvét), which many Hungarian shops still offer, and card payment through local gateways such as SimplePay. Record these alongside the price, since a comparison without them is incomplete.
Pay by card through Stripe or in cryptocurrency through Cryptomus. There is no contract, subscription or setup fee: each order runs for 30 days, after which any unused data lapses.
Email info@cheapest-proxies.com within 24 hours of delivery. Proxies that are dead on arrival are replaced, and where working replacements cannot be supplied, the affected part of the order is refunded.

The full terms for replacements and refunds are in our refund policy.
