Monitoring Russia: domestic platforms, labelled ads and sanctions checks

Russia's consumer internet runs largely on domestic platforms: Yandex for search and maps, VK for social, Avito for classifieds, and Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex Market for retail. Google stopped serving ads to users there in 2022, and Facebook and Instagram are blocked, so campaign work needs separate tools. Reporting is in Russian and roubles, and sanctions checks come before anything else.

Paid media after 2022

Paid campaigns now centre on Yandex Direct, VK Ads and sponsored posts in Telegram channels. Placement checks therefore run from Russian IPs in each target region, because advertisers can set creatives and offers city by city.

Every online ad carries an erid

Since September 2022, online ads in Russia must be labelled as advertising, name the advertiser and carry a registration token known as an erid. Verification teams check that the creatives reaching users show the label and token, which also helps trace who placed an ad.

Marketplaces and parallel imports

Price teams follow Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex Market, where delivery dates and stock depend on the shopper's region. Brand-protection teams watch Avito and the marketplaces for parallel imports, which Russia legalised for listed brands in 2022, and for counterfeits.

Localisation and sanctions paperwork

Roskomnadzor enforces a rule that personal data about Russian citizens be kept in databases located in Russia. That makes reviewer names and seller contacts a poor fit for any monitoring dataset; stick to prices, stock and ad creatives, and file a sanctions sign-off with each project.

Questions buyers ask about Russia proxies

Start with Moscow and Saint Petersburg, then add Novosibirsk or Yekaterinburg if your products ship east of the Urals. Marketplaces show delivery promises and stock for the shopper's region, so a single Moscow vantage point paints the whole country in Moscow's colours. Report each city separately.
Proxies are a network service, and using them for public-data research is lawful in many places, but with Russia the first question is sanctions. Your obligations depend on where your company is registered and who you deal with, so get your compliance team's sign-off, and keep to our acceptable use policy and each platform's terms.
Pay by card through Stripe or in cryptocurrency through Cryptomus. There is no contract, subscription or setup fee: each order runs for 30 days, after which any unused data lapses.
Email info@cheapest-proxies.com within 24 hours of delivery. Proxies that are dead on arrival are replaced, and where working replacements cannot be supplied, the affected part of the order is refunded.

The full terms for replacements and refunds are in our refund policy.
