What teams use Google Search proxies for

Search, research and data teams use them to load public pages from the right location at the volume a report needs, from rankings and ads to prices, competitor pages and QA runs, within each site's terms.

▸ Manual rank spot-checks for clients
▸ Local keyword and SERP-feature reviews
▸ Multi-location visibility audits
▸ Competitor ad and listing reviews

Google Search for marketing teams: local visibility, ads and client reporting

Agencies and in-house teams look at Google Search from the customer's side: where a client's pages, Business Profile and ads appear in each city they serve. Google's own tools answer much of this, and they should come first. A residential proxy in the target city fills the remaining gap: a quick look at the full results page from that city, kept to occasional manual checks.

Ad checks without wasted impressions

Google Ads' Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool shows whether an ad is eligible for a chosen location, language and device without counting an impression. Use it for routine checks, and keep proxy-based looks at live results for the occasional screenshot a client asks to see.

Competitor ads by region

The Ads Transparency Center lists the ads an advertiser has run, filterable by region: a good starting point for competitor research. A look at the live results page through residential traffic in the client's city can then show where those ads sit beside your client's listings.

Local pack and Business Profile checks

For multi-location clients, local pack and map results change from one district to the next, and a city-level IP gives the city view rather than a street-level one. Pair spot checks with Business Profile performance data, which shows the searches customers used to find each listing.

Team routine and budget

Residential traffic with city targeting, billed per GB, suits this work. Fix a short list of cities and queries per client, run checks signed out of Google in a clean browser profile, and file each capture with its date, city and query so monthly reports compare like with like.

The plan we suggest for Google Search

We suggest Residential here. Traffic leaves through household broadband connections in the country you pick, so pages load as they would for an ordinary customer there. Google stops datacenter IPs within tens of queries, and its spam policies treat automated rank checking without permission as machine-generated traffic. Residential IPs suit what marketing teams actually need: a signed-out look at results in a client's city, a few queries at a time.

✓

Fewer CAPTCHAs

Household IPs meet Google's "I'm not a robot" check far less often than datacenter addresses, so an account manager running manual city checks loses less time to challenges. That helps people at keyboards; it isn't a licence for automated collection.

✓

City-level targeting

Set the exit to a client's city to see the local pack, map results and ads close to what customers there get, which is the view a multi-location brand wants in its report.

✓

Multi-engine

One residential plan covers checks on Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yandex, so an agency doesn't need a separate supplier for each engine.

✓

Scraper compatible

The proxies also plug into SerpAPI alternatives, ScrapeBox, Apify and custom Python scrapers. Point those at engines and sites that allow automated access; Google's spam policies don't, without express permission.

Matching each job to a plan

Most teams run more than one kind of job. Data is bought per plan, so volume checks can sit on a lower-cost plan while the jobs that need a household or carrier connection get one.

Several markets, one order

MIX packages are ready-made residential pools covering several countries at once, so a multi-market report can run from a single order.

Getting the team set up

Four steps take a team from order to first check, using the browsers and tools it already works with.

1

Size the order

Start on Residential, the plan suggested above, and choose how many gigabytes the work needs. The proxy calculator shows the total first.

2

Pay by card or crypto

Stripe handles card payments and Cryptomus handles crypto. Each order is a one-off, valid for 30 days, with no subscription to cancel.

3

Set the market

Choose countries in the dashboard after payment, so one order can serve one client market this week and another the next. If a job needs a single city, ask support whether the network covers it.

4

Give the team access

The dashboard shows the login details once the payment has gone through. Pass them to the colleagues who need them, or whitelist the office IP so nobody has to type a password.

Rotation or a sticky session?

  • ▸Per-request rotation moves every request to a different IP. Use it for wide, read-only sweeps of public pages, such as price lists or search results.
  • ▸Sticky sessions hold one IP for a window you choose, typically 1-30 minutes, for signed-in or multi-step tasks such as stepping through a client's checkout.

Both are switched in the dashboard, and the options on offer depend on the plan. Keep request rates modest either way.

Signing in

  • ▸Username and password in the host:port:user:pass format that browsers, browser-profile tools and monitoring software accept.
  • ▸IP whitelist: add your office or server address in the dashboard, and anything connecting from it gets in without credentials, which suits shared office lines and scheduled jobs.

Both work over HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, and the protocol can be changed later in the dashboard at no extra charge.

Match the IP to the market you report on

Search rankings, prices, ads and even which products appear can change with the visitor's country. Set the IP to the market your client or campaign targets, and the screenshots and figures your team files will line up with what customers there are shown.

  • ✓55+ countries to choose from.
  • ✓City-level targeting where the network supports it.
  • ✓One country per check keeps month-on-month results comparable.

Major markets on the network

United States United Kingdom Germany France Canada Australia Netherlands India Brazil Singapore

When a report doesn't match what the client sees on the ground, the IP's country is one of the first things to check.

How the four plans compare

Every plan bills per GB. The highlighted row is the plan we suggest for this work.

Plan Trust level Speed Cost From, per GB Where it fits
Datacenter Standard ★★★★★ $ $3.50 Bulk page checks, rank tracking and QA on your own sites

The rate charged is the one shown for the live plan at checkout.

Keeping Google Search work within the rules

We sell these proxies for legitimate business work: market and price research, ad verification, SEO, brand protection, QA and compliant automation, including running your own accounts inside each platform's rules. Whatever your team does through them has to stay within the terms of service of every site involved and the law that applies to you and your clients.

  • ✓Collect only publicly available information, and pace requests so the site isn't put under strain.
  • ✓No proxy can promise that an account escapes action by the platform. That depends mostly on how the account is used and whether it follows the terms.
  • ✓Personal details in collected pages, such as names, contact details or reviews, bring data-protection duties with them. Agree with your legal team what you keep and for how long.

The full rules are in our acceptable use policy.

Google Search proxies: questions from team leads

No. Google's spam policies count scraping results for rank checking without express permission as machine-generated traffic, whichever IP addresses the queries come from. For scheduled reporting, use Search Console data for each client site, which is first-party and free, and keep proxy checks for occasional manual verification.
Google tailors results to location, language, device and the searcher's own history, so a client signed in at their office sees their own version. Reports built from a city-targeted IP in a signed-out browser show a less personalised local view. Explain that difference up front and agree which view the report tracks.
Google tends to slow an IP after roughly 5-15 queries a minute, a pace manual checking rarely reaches. Automated rank collection is another matter, as Google's spam policies class it as machine-generated traffic unless Google has given permission.
Only at very low volume. Google rate-limits datacenter ranges fast, so residential is the realistic choice for location checks.
Rarely. A few local-search researchers use it to see results on a carrier network, but residential is the standard choice and costs less per GB.
Run checks signed out and the account isn't involved. Google's usual answer to heavy automated querying is a CAPTCHA on the IP rather than action against accounts, but automated rank scraping still breaks its spam policies.

Refunds

Proxies that fail on arrival can be reported to support for up to 24 hours after delivery. Support swaps them, and where a working swap isn't possible, refunds the affected amount. Details are in the refund policy.
