Market research for commercial teams: prices, promotions and positioning by country

Commercial teams use proxies in market research to answer practical questions: what competitors charge in each country, which promotions run where, how rivals localise their sites, and which marketplaces matter in a market you're entering. The proxy provides the in-country view of public pages. The value comes from the plan around it: clear questions, the same products every time and a regular schedule.

Promotions and assortment by country

Record which products competitors feature, discount or drop in each market, using dated screenshots of home and category pages taken through residential IPs there. Over a few months the record shows promotion timing your sales team can plan around.

How rivals localise

Before entering a country, review competitors' local sites for language, payment methods, delivery promises and returns terms. Browsing with residential traffic from that country usually shows the version shoppers there get, which can differ from the international page your office is redirected to.

Local marketplaces, not just global ones

Global platforms are only part of the picture. Allegro in Poland, Mercado Libre across much of Latin America and Rakuten in Japan each shape prices locally, so include the marketplaces local shoppers actually use in the sample.

Country targeting and the USA/Europe mix

Country-targeted residential is the core type here, since the whole point is the local view. Teams researching the United States and Western Europe together can use the USA/Europe mix, which pairs the two in a single residential pool billed per GB.

The plan we suggest for Market Research

We suggest Residential here. Traffic leaves through household broadband connections in the country you pick, so pages load as they would for an ordinary customer there. What a market looks like depends on where you view it from: prices, ads and listings change with the visitor's location. Residential IPs in each country show the real local picture, so research reflects the market rather than head office.

✓

Geo-pricing accuracy

Household IPs in the target country return the prices local shoppers are quoted, so comparisons rest on like-for-like figures.

✓

Bulk data pulls

Rotating residential supports daily large-scale collection of public pages, within each source's terms, for teams tracking many products or markets.

✓

Sticky for accounts

Where research needs a logged-in view, such as a trade portal your company subscribes to, a sticky residential IP keeps that session on one steady address.

✓

Mobile compatible

Add mobile 4G/5G when the information only appears in mobile apps, such as app-exclusive offers in a market.

Matching each job to a plan

Most teams run more than one kind of job. Data is bought per plan, so volume checks can sit on a lower-cost plan while the jobs that need a household or carrier connection get one.

Several markets, one order

MIX packages are ready-made residential pools covering several countries at once, so a multi-market report can run from a single order.

Getting the team set up

Four steps take a team from order to first check, using the browsers and tools it already works with.

1

Size the order

Start on Residential, the plan suggested above, and choose how many gigabytes the work needs. The proxy calculator shows the total first.

2

Pay by card or crypto

Stripe handles card payments and Cryptomus handles crypto. Each order is a one-off, valid for 30 days, with no subscription to cancel.

3

Set the market

Choose countries in the dashboard after payment, so one order can serve one client market this week and another the next. If a job needs a single city, ask support whether the network covers it.

4

Give the team access

The dashboard shows the login details once the payment has gone through. Pass them to the colleagues who need them, or whitelist the office IP so nobody has to type a password.

Rotation or a sticky session?

  • ▸Per-request rotation moves every request to a different IP. Use it for wide, read-only sweeps of public pages, such as price lists or search results.
  • ▸Sticky sessions hold one IP for a window you choose, typically 1-30 minutes, for signed-in or multi-step tasks such as stepping through a client's checkout.

Both are switched in the dashboard, and the options on offer depend on the plan. Keep request rates modest either way.

Signing in

  • ▸Username and password in the host:port:user:pass format that browsers, browser-profile tools and monitoring software accept.
  • ▸IP whitelist: add your office or server address in the dashboard, and anything connecting from it gets in without credentials, which suits shared office lines and scheduled jobs.

Both work over HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, and the protocol can be changed later in the dashboard at no extra charge.

Match the IP to the market you report on

Search rankings, prices, ads and even which products appear can change with the visitor's country. Set the IP to the market your client or campaign targets, and the screenshots and figures your team files will line up with what customers there are shown.

  • ✓55+ countries to choose from.
  • ✓City-level targeting where the network supports it.
  • ✓One country per check keeps month-on-month results comparable.

When a report doesn't match what the client sees on the ground, the IP's country is one of the first things to check.

Keeping Market Research work within the rules

We sell these proxies for legitimate business work: market and price research, ad verification, SEO, brand protection, QA and compliant automation, including running your own accounts inside each platform's rules. Whatever your team does through them has to stay within the terms of service of every site involved and the law that applies to you and your clients.

  • ✓Collect only publicly available information, and pace requests so the site isn't put under strain.
  • ✓No proxy can promise that an account escapes action by the platform. That depends mostly on how the account is used and whether it follows the terms.
  • ✓Personal details in collected pages, such as names, contact details or reviews, bring data-protection duties with them. Agree with your legal team what you keep and for how long.

The full rules are in our acceptable use policy.

Market Research proxies: questions from team leads

Viewing public prices is ordinary competitive research, but how you collect them matters. Stay with public, non-personal pages, follow each site's terms and robots.txt for automated collection, and keep volumes modest. Never use the data as part of any agreement on prices with competitors; competition law forbids that however the data was gathered.
Match the refresh rate to how quickly the category moves. Electronics and travel prices can change within a day, while furniture or trade catalogues may barely move in a month. Start weekly, see how often prices really changed, then adjust; refreshing faster than the market moves only adds per-GB cost.

Yes, for public sources without bot protection. Anything protected or location-sensitive stays on residential.

Refunds

Proxies that fail on arrival can be reported to support for up to 24 hours after delivery. Support swaps them, and where a working swap isn't possible, refunds the affected amount. Details are in the refund policy.

Support

People answer tickets 24/7. Open one from the Support page in your dashboard and include the order reference.

Logs

Our records cover billing and how much bandwidth each order used. The URLs, page content and destinations your team reaches are never logged.
