Points, three marketplaces and the stealth marketing rule: Japan for brand teams

Points programmes mean the sticker price on a Japanese marketplace is rarely the whole offer, and Amazon.co.jp, Rakuten Ichiba and Yahoo! Shopping each run their own. Mercari handles resale and Kakaku.com price comparison, and strict rules on price display and undisclosed advertising shape how offers and ads look. One catch for European teams: Yahoo! JAPAN's services have been unavailable in the EEA and UK since 2022, so check its terms first.

Three marketplaces, three storefronts

Brands often run separate shops on Rakuten Ichiba, Yahoo! Shopping and Amazon.co.jp, each with its own points promotions. Price teams compare effective prices after points, not just sticker prices, because points campaigns change the real offer.

Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions

Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions carry second-hand and collectible goods, which makes them the first places to check for counterfeits and unauthorised resale. A search from Japanese IPs returns the listings and prices that buyers in Japan see.

The stealth marketing rule

Since October 2023, undisclosed advertising, including unlabelled influencer posts, counts as a misleading representation under Japanese law. Ad and influencer teams check that sponsored content carries a clear label such as 広告 or PR when viewed from Japan.

Search and LINE

Search visibility is tracked on both Google and Yahoo! JAPAN. LINE, run by the same company as Yahoo! JAPAN since their 2023 merger, carries its own ad inventory, so campaign checks cover the LINE app as well as the web.

Questions buyers ask about Japan proxies

Around the big sale events. Rakuten Super SALE comes round several times a year, Amazon.co.jp runs Prime Day and Black Friday sales, and Yahoo! Shopping runs its own points campaigns. Discounts, coupons and points rates change most often then, so schedule extra checks for those weeks and record the points rate beside each price.
Often the headline price is the same, but what surrounds it isn't: points rates, coupons, delivery estimates and member offers can depend on location or login, and some shops show overseas visitors an international version. Checking from Japanese IPs while logged out gives you the baseline a new local customer sees.
Pay by card through Stripe or in cryptocurrency through Cryptomus. There is no contract, subscription or setup fee: each order runs for 30 days, after which any unused data lapses.
Email info@cheapest-proxies.com within 24 hours of delivery. Proxies that are dead on arrival are replaced, and where working replacements cannot be supplied, the affected part of the order is refunded.
