Peru's retail market for brand and pricing teams: banners, Cyber Wow and INDECOPI
Peru's online retail centres on Lima and on a handful of retail groups, with Intercorp, Falabella, Cencosud and Ripley banners competing with Mercado Libre. Promotions cluster around Cyber Wow, run by IAB Perú, and INDECOPI polices advertising and consumer rights. Store-card prices add a second price to many product pages.
Who owns which banner
Intercorp's banners include Plaza Vea, Oechsle, Promart and the pharmacy chains Inkafarma and Mifarma; Falabella runs Saga Falabella, Tottus and Sodimac; Cencosud runs Wong and Metro; Ripley competes with all of them. Pharmacy price checks, for instance, should cover both Intercorp chains.
Cyber Wow cycles
IAB Perú runs Cyber Wow more than once a year, and its 2026 calendar includes a four-day edition in November. Teams capture prices before, during and after each edition and keep timestamped screenshots of claimed reductions, so any inflated reference price can be shown later.
Lima first, then the regions
Lima is where much of the online demand sits, but Arequipa and Trujillo can differ in delivery coverage, fees and store stock. Start with Lima for national checks and add regional cities through city targeting when a client sells outside the capital or advertises regional delivery.
INDECOPI and the data law
INDECOPI enforces consumer protection and advertising rules, including how discounts and prices are presented. Personal data falls under the 2011 protection law and its updated regulation, so research datasets that include people need a documented legal basis before anyone uses them.
