What teams use Anonymous web surfing proxies for

These are services companies deal with day to day, from review sites to cloud platforms. The proxy work is usually a check of what customers or users in another market are shown, inside each service's terms.

▸ Private browsing for research staff
▸ Viewing region-specific content
▸ Checking local prices and ads
▸ Keeping research sessions separate

Research browsing for business teams: keeping the office IP out of competitors' logs

For companies, private browsing is mostly about research hygiene. Many B2B visitor-identification tools match office IP ranges to company names, so a researcher studying a competitor's pricing page from the corporate network can announce the visit. Routing research through a residential proxy keeps the company's address out of those logs. It doesn't hide logins, cookies or form entries, and it needs IT's blessing first.

Agree the setup with IT first

Many companies send staff traffic through their own secure web gateway and forbid unapproved proxies in their acceptable-use policy. Ask IT to approve a dedicated research browser profile, agree which teams may use it, and record the decision alongside your security policy.

What still gives a researcher away

Signing in, filling a contact form, clicking a competitor's newsletter link from a work mailbox or carrying cookies from earlier visits can all identify the company regardless of IP. Keep research in a profile that never signs in anywhere and clear it between projects.

Travelling staff need the company VPN, not this

On hotel or airport Wi-Fi, HTTPS already encrypts page content, and a browser proxy doesn't protect the rest of the laptop. Internal systems belong behind the company VPN. Keep the proxy for its real job: viewing public sites from a chosen market.

Plan and usage

Research browsing sits best on residential sticky sessions, with country or city targeting when the market matters. Billing is per GB, and auto-playing video is what eats it, so switch autoplay off in the research profile and review usage in the dashboard after the first month.

The plan we suggest for Anonymous web surfing

We suggest Residential here. Traffic leaves through household broadband connections in the country you pick, so pages load as they would for an ordinary customer there. Datacenter proxies and public VPNs are widely recognised and challenged, which slows everyday research. Residential IPs from consumer ISPs are ordinary household connections, so pages load normally and location-based content behaves as it would for a local visitor, useful when a team wants to view a competitor's site or a local price without revealing who is looking.

✓

Household-grade footprint

Competitor research shouldn't leave your company's IP in a rival's visitor logs. Requests arrive from a consumer ISP instead, which sites treat as a normal home visit, without the interstitial checks that shared datacenter or public-VPN ranges often trigger.

✓

Country and city targeting

Choose a country or city and your browser shows that market's prices, headlines and content as a resident sees them, while your own IP stays private.

✓

Sticky or rotating, your choice

Keep one IP for a steady research session, or rotate on a timer so visits to different sites aren't tied to one address.

✓

Universal compatibility

Set it once in the operating system's proxy settings, in a single browser, or in separate browser profiles for different projects; HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS5 with username/password or IP-whitelist login are delivered instantly after purchase.

Matching each job to a plan

Most teams run more than one kind of job. Data is bought per plan, so volume checks can sit on a lower-cost plan while the jobs that need a household or carrier connection get one.

Several markets, one order

MIX packages are ready-made residential pools covering several countries at once, so a multi-market report can run from a single order.

Getting the team set up

Four steps take a team from order to first check, using the browsers and tools it already works with.

1

Size the order

Start on Residential, the plan suggested above, and choose how many gigabytes the work needs. The proxy calculator shows the total first.

2

Pay by card or crypto

Stripe handles card payments and Cryptomus handles crypto. Each order is a one-off, valid for 30 days, with no subscription to cancel.

3

Set the market

Choose countries in the dashboard after payment, so one order can serve one client market this week and another the next. If a job needs a single city, ask support whether the network covers it.

4

Give the team access

The dashboard shows the login details once the payment has gone through. Pass them to the colleagues who need them, or whitelist the office IP so nobody has to type a password.

Rotation or a sticky session?

  • ▸Per-request rotation moves every request to a different IP. Use it for wide, read-only sweeps of public pages, such as price lists or search results.
  • ▸Sticky sessions hold one IP for a window you choose, typically 1-30 minutes, for signed-in or multi-step tasks such as stepping through a client's checkout.

Both are switched in the dashboard, and the options on offer depend on the plan. Keep request rates modest either way.

Signing in

  • ▸Username and password in the host:port:user:pass format that browsers, browser-profile tools and monitoring software accept.
  • ▸IP whitelist: add your office or server address in the dashboard, and anything connecting from it gets in without credentials, which suits shared office lines and scheduled jobs.

Both work over HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, and the protocol can be changed later in the dashboard at no extra charge.

Match the IP to the market you report on

Search rankings, prices, ads and even which products appear can change with the visitor's country. Set the IP to the market your client or campaign targets, and the screenshots and figures your team files will line up with what customers there are shown.

  • ✓55+ countries to choose from.
  • ✓City-level targeting where the network supports it.
  • ✓One country per check keeps month-on-month results comparable.

When a report doesn't match what the client sees on the ground, the IP's country is one of the first things to check.

How the four plans compare

Every plan bills per GB. The highlighted row is the plan we suggest for this work.

Keeping Anonymous web surfing work within the rules

We sell these proxies for legitimate business work: market and price research, ad verification, SEO, brand protection, QA and compliant automation, including running your own accounts inside each platform's rules. Whatever your team does through them has to stay within the terms of service of every site involved and the law that applies to you and your clients.

  • ✓Collect only publicly available information, and pace requests so the site isn't put under strain.
  • ✓No proxy can promise that an account escapes action by the platform. That depends mostly on how the account is used and whether it follows the terms.
  • ✓Personal details in collected pages, such as names, contact details or reviews, bring data-protection duties with them. Agree with your legal team what you keep and for how long.

The full rules are in our acceptable use policy.

Anonymous web surfing proxies: questions from team leads

Viewing public pages is ordinary market research. The lines are elsewhere: don't create accounts or request demos under false identities, don't try to reach pages behind logins or paywalls you aren't entitled to, and follow each site's terms and the law where you operate. A proxy changes the address a site sees, not what you're permitted to access.
Shared credentials are simplest, but usage becomes hard to attribute and the password has to change whenever someone leaves. If the office has a fixed public address, IP whitelist authentication keeps passwords out of browser settings altogether, though it then covers everyone on that network, so pair it with IT's approved research profile.
They do different jobs. A VPN puts traffic through a small set of shared server IPs that many sites recognise and challenge, while residential proxies use real consumer-ISP addresses that sites treat as ordinary household visitors, with location-based content behaving normally. Keep the VPN for internal systems and send outside research through the proxy.
Not by itself. The proxy covers the network side, hiding your real IP and changing your apparent location, but browser fingerprints, cookies and signed-in accounts can still identify someone. Pair it with clean, separate browser profiles.
Mostly not. To a website, a residential IP is just another household broadband connection, so pages that turn away obvious datacenter or VPN ranges still open; switch on a sticky session if a site should see one IP for the whole visit.
In most places, browsing privately and viewing regional content are lawful. Your team still answers for each site's terms and the laws that apply to you, and the proxies are meant for legitimate privacy and research, never for breaking rules or committing fraud.

Refunds

Proxies that fail on arrival can be reported to support for up to 24 hours after delivery. Support swaps them, and where a working swap isn't possible, refunds the affected amount. Details are in the refund policy.

Support

People answer tickets 24/7. Open one from the Support page in your dashboard and include the order reference.

Logs

Our records cover billing and how much bandwidth each order used. The URLs, page content and destinations your team reaches are never logged.
